Breaking News!!!! Congress overwhelmingly voted on November 5th to extend and expand the Homebuyer Tax Credit to include "Long Time Residents".
What this bill does:
- Extends the deadline to purchase under the current credit until June 30th, 2010.
- Includes a provision for "Long Time Residents", meaning if you have lived in the same primary residence for 5 consecutive years out of the last 8 years you are now eligible for a $6,500 tax credit on the purchase of a new primary residence.
- Increases the income thresholds from $75,000(single)/$150,000(married) to $150,000(single)/$225,000(married)
- Extends this credit for members of the armed forces serving active duty for another full year.
